BEHIND BARNIE: JUSTINE MONIN
If BARNIE has become the brand it is today, it is also thanks to those who support Delphine and Edouard on a daily basis. Each member of the team, with their story, their expertise, their talents, their personality and their aspirations, brings a singular energy that has been shaping the brand day after day for five years now. Because BARNIE would not be BARNIE without its teams, we have chosen to shine a light on those who bring it to life. For this fifth edition of Behind BARNIE, Justine, our long-standing Office Manager, agreed to take part in the interview.
A Lyonnaise at heart and a lover of sunshine, Justine, 38, is the true orchestrator of life at BARNIE. The first employee to join the adventure, she has watched the brand grow and shaped her role over the years with rare versatility. Passionate about the art of living, she draws her inspiration from the light of the Mediterranean, the buzz of Lyon's concert halls, and the warmth of moments shared with family. Whether it's tracking down the best massage address in Lyon or managing an event from A to Z, she brings the same energy, the same warmth, and that attention to detail that makes all the difference.
What is your role at BARNIE?
I am an Office Manager.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
My role was built at the same time as the brand. In the beginning, we were a very small team and I had a hand in everything: buying and reselling, the early stages of production, outsourcing logistics... I even went to Portugal several times to meet our suppliers, and occasionally photographed Delphine when needed for social media. Those first few years of great versatility gave me a cross-functional view of the brand.
Today, my role consists of ensuring that BARNIE runs smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. I handle administration, HR, I coordinate logistics, and above all I look after the team's wellbeing to ensure that information flows well internally.
YOUR FAVOURITE MISSION AT BARNIE?
I loved working on the POP UP we organised in Paris this winter. It involves a great deal of preparation, but what a satisfaction when everything comes to life! It was wonderful to meet our customers. But what moves me most is the energy of the team. I watched them arrive one by one — we are a close-knit team. Working alongside Delphine and Édouard from the very beginning, in this relationship of trust, is also a great source of pride.
How would you describe your personal style?
I love pieces that are easy to wear, but always in beautiful fabrics: cashmere, alpaca, lovely denim, or Oxford shirts. Since joining BARNIE, I've come to place a great deal of importance on the quality and fabric of my clothes.
We know you love wellness moments — could you share your favourite addresses in Lyon?
For a facial, I particularly love Oh My Cream (Lyon 2). For a massage, I book a little escape at Ines Carapau (Lyon 3). Wellbeing also goes through the taste buds: I adore Monsieur Kim and Ultimo restaurants, the bread from Painpote, and the brunch at Desjeuneur.
Three pieces of content or Instagram posts that have inspired you recently?
The ilovecostabrava account that makes me dream all year long, and the announcement of the programme for the Les Nuits de Fourvière festival. It's an exceptional setting where concerts begin at sunset — the atmosphere is truly unique. Finally, I really love the spot.fr account, which shares very inspiring series of photographs.
A series you absolutely shouldn't miss, according to you?
Recently, I loved the series Los Años Nuevos on Arte. It explores the passage of time with great subtlety. On the cinema side, my latest favourite is L'Attachement by Carine Tardieu, which has just received the César for Best Film.
